The mission of the Rock River Regatta is to promote paddle
sports, the Rock River and the communities surrounding Mayville &
Horicon,
while emphasizing fun, camaraderie and competition. This year we are
moving the event to the scenic Horicon Marsh Canoe Trail. The
start is at Greenhead landing and the finish is in Horicon at
Bowling Green Park which is next to the
Rock River Tap. Check out the

until everyone is gone.

section of the Rock River.
A little History!
- Established in 2000
- A USCA sanctioned event
- Average attendance is 90 paddlers
- 1 wedding proposal and subsequent wedding
- 21 divorces (just kidding but canoes do bring out spousal
conflict!)
- 6 Confirmed Elvis sightings
- 1 Elvis Bow Hunting Accident (allegedly perpetrated by some
silly carp hunters)
- Given away (2) canoes and (1) mountain bike & 30 Gallons of
yummy Zurheides Ice Cream "das best!"
- Lots of fun and camaraderie!
Course & Race Info:
The water depth varies from 1-6 ft deep. The current
is negligible and there are weeds in the shallow sections. It is not
a place for a kayak with a non retractable rudder! The upper section
is twisty and it empties into a series of shallow bays. The bays
connect to the main ditch which will carry you to Horicon. The
course is well marked.
Food & Beverages:
The finish line is at Bowling Green Park which is
a few steps away from the Rock River Tap. They have food
and beverages and a great view of the finish line from their nice
new deck. Come get a
burger! All racers get a complimentary bowl of yummy ice cream at
the park!
Car Shuttling:
The driving distance between the put in and the
take out is quite short. We are in the process of developing a
shuttle and we will post the details when we finalize them.
